Just a few days ago, we reviewed the HONOR X9d 5G, the brand’s first smartphone launch of the year.
But in this article, we’ll focus on its gaming performance.
Can it handle our usual games? Let’s find out.

By default, most settings are set to high. We bumped them to the maximum available and tested the device.
The game ran smoothly, with no signs of struggle, and the phone didn’t heat up even after several matches. FPS remained consistent, with no noticeable drops or stutters.

Result: With maxed-out settings, Mobile Legends ran at a stable 89–91 FPS.

The default settings are set to performance with 60 FPS. We increased the frame rate to 120 in custom settings to test its limits.
The only minor issue occurred during the opening sequence, with a few stutters and frame drops. Once in-game, performance was smooth in both small skirmishes and large clashes, maintaining consistent FPS.

Result: With maxed-out settings, Wild Rift ran at 109–120 FPS.

We stuck to default settings, which already include very high graphics and max frame rate.
The gameplay was smooth with consistent FPS throughout gunfights, with no stutters or frame drops. Fans of Call of Duty will find the device capable of handling the game effortlessly.

Result: Very high graphics at max frame rate delivered 58–60 FPS.

For this graphically demanding game, we played on medium graphics with 60 FPS.
In the overworld, combat felt slightly clunky, with noticeable frame drops and stutters. Performance improved in the Abyss, where combat ran smoothly, and switching characters or activating ultimate skills delivered decent performance.

Result: Medium graphics with 60 FPS yielded 24–31 FPS in the overworld and 33–41 FPS in the Abyss.

Also set to medium settings with 60 FPS, the game showed some noticeable stutters and frame drops both in combat and exploration.
However, parries and timing remained manageable. After a few minutes, the device warmed up more than during Genshin Impact, but it remained playable for daily content or moderate endgame sessions.

Result: Medium graphics with 60 FPS produced 24–33 FPS.

Set to medium graphics with 60 FPS, this title delivered the slowest performance among the games tested.
While still playable, a PC would provide a better experience. The device also got noticeably warmer compared to Zenless Zone Zero, which is less ideal for a mobile device.

Result: Medium graphics with 60 FPS ran at 19–24 FPS.
As expected, the HONOR X9d 5G handles competitive titles very well, providing smooth and consistent gameplay.

Graphically demanding games, however, push the device to its limits. While still playable, performance may not satisfy those seeking the best experience for heavy titles.
If your main games include Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero, or Wuthering Waves, you may want to consider a device with a more powerful chipset.
Overall, the HONOR X9d 5G is a solid choice for casual and competitive gaming, but less ideal for intensive, graphically heavy games.
