What was considered to be a concept phone — turned out to be a compelling contender to the top-tier smartphones out there. With the recent release of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, how far is the gap now compared to the Mi Mix 2S?

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S and Mi Mix 3 Similarities

- Snapdragon 845
- Wireless charging

The mainstay design of ceramic and aluminum combination stays with the Mi Mix 3 but opts to introduce the mechanical slider housing the cameras in order to provide a true full-screen display.
Viewing experience will change as it switches from the accurate IPS LCD panel to a saturated look of Super AMOLED with HDR support. No changes with the 1080p resolution here.
The innards of both devices are pretty much the same except for the Mi Mix 2S that starts at 64GB/6GB while the Mi Mix 3 starts at 128GB/6GB that goes up to 10GB RAM.
Taking photos and videos will vary quite differently as the latest Mi Mix iteration features wide and telephoto lenses for the main camera while allowing to record slow-motion video – 1080p @ 960fps. While the front camera gets a huge upgrade from a single sensor to a dual setup with high 24MP count accompanied by a 2MP depth sensor.
If there’s a downgrade here it’s the lower 3200mAh of the Mi Mix 3, however, we’re getting a faster Quick Charge 4.0+ in replenishing its tank. Lastly, besides the black and white variants, consumers are also getting Jade Green and Sapphire blue to make it more interesting.
