Xiaomi officially launched and priced the latest Android phablet bearing the Mi Max model name. The Xiaomi Mi Max sports really wide display similar to the Galaxy Mega and Xperia Z Ultra in the previous years. Measuring at 6.44-inch wide with 1080p Full HD resolution, this results to 342ppi; still higher than you regular retina display.

The large display doesn’t mean less in internal specs as its core is a Snapdragon 652 octa-core or 650 hexacore with either 4 or 3GB RAM, respectively, depending on the variant you will be getting. There’s also storage options starting at 32GB or 64GB and up to 128GB internal. The Mi Max has a hybrid dual-SIM card tray, adding a room for microSD card support or memory expansion up to 128GB.
Despite the huge size, the phablet’s size tips at 7.5mm thick and follows the footsteps of the Mi 5 thru the curved glass and fingerprint scanner on the back.
Powering the Mi Max is a whopping 4,850 mAh battery that supports reverse charging or a la power bank style (charging other smartphones).
The main shooter is a 16MP sensor with PDAF (phase detection autofocus) that supports 4K HD video recording while the selfie is managed by the 5MP camera.
Xiaomi will release the Mi Max phablet running on latest Mi UI 8 next week with a starting price of $230 USD or Php 10.5k pesos before local taxes (will run up to Php 12k) for the base model of SD 650, 3GB RAM, and 32GB storage. Stepping up to SD652 octa-core and 4GB RAM will cost you around $300 or Php15k.
