DESIGN
Due to its glass back and smooth corners, the Xiaomi 12 Lite has the advantage of looking more expensive than the Galaxy A53 and Reno7. On the other hand, the Galaxy A53 stands out due to its IP67 rating, which distinguishes Samsung’s mid-range phones from the competition.

All three devices lack a headphone jack and have USB-C ports, while the Galaxy A53 and Reno7 both support MicroSD card expansion.

DISPLAY
With their quick 120hz refresh rate, the Galaxy A53 and Xiaomi 12 Lite both have sharper displays than the Reno6. The Xiaomi 12 Lite utilizes a 10-bit panel, which equates to a wider color range for supporting HDR10 and Dolby Vision video, even though all three phones have an AMOLED display with a punch-hole and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

CAMERA
While having OIS may give the Galaxy A53 an advantage on paper, the Xiaomi 12 Lite boasts a larger sensor that also has a greater resolution. The Xiaomi 12 Lite makes up for its lack of OIS with outstanding video-specific EIS.

We like the Reno7 and Xiaomi 12 Lite’s strategy of minimizing the amount of stat-stuffing cameras, even though the Galaxy A53 has a higher-resolution ultra-wide-angle camera.

Regarding selfies, all three phones feature a 32MP sensor, putting them on nearly equal footing. However, the Xiaomi 12 Lite adds eye tracking autofocus and two LED lights to assist take crisper and more detailed selfies than the Galaxy A53 and Reno7.

SPECS AND PERFORMANCE
The Galaxy A53 and Xiaomi 12 Lite both have 8GB/128GB variants, while the latter has a 6GB/128GB variant. All three phones have 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. According to our tests, the Xiaomi 12 Lite’s Snapdragon 778G processor is the best among the three, with the Reno7’s Dimensity 900 coming in a close second. This is the main difference between the three devices.

The three phones all come pre-installed with Android 12, but Samsung provides the most comprehensive support, providing up to four years of major software updates and five years of security patches. In contrast, at least two significant software updates and three years of security patches are promised for the Xiaomi 12 Lite and Reno7.

BATTERY
With a sizable 5000mAh battery that depending on your use, may keep up with you for more than a day, the Galaxy A53 outperforms the competition when it comes to battery life. However, the higher charging rates—67w on the Reno7 and 65w on the Xiaomi 12 Lite—balance out the smaller batteries on both devices.

Our tests with the Xiaomi 12 Lite and Reno7 show that they can last for a day with moderate use despite having a lower battery than the Galaxy A53.

PRICE
The Reno7 costs Php 26,999 for the single 8GB/256GB variant, whereas the Galaxy A53 costs Php 23,490 for the same configuration. Other Galaxy A53 variants include an 8GB/128GB model that costs Php 21,490 and a 6GB/128GB model that costs Php 20,490.
