According to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), there’s a reported online hacking incident into the World Health Organization (WHO) database, potentially compromising information linked to the Philippines’ COVID-19 vaccine program.
DICT’s spokesperson, Aboy Paraiso, mentioned that their computer emergency response team monitored the breach affecting the COVID-19 vaccination database for the Philippines and India within the WHO system.
The breach might have put at risk sensitive personal details of individuals enrolled in the COVID-19 vaccination program. This includes the following:
- full names
- addresses
- birth dates
- mobile numbers
- email addresses
- blood types
- medical histories
Karla Cruz, a security analyst, expressed concerns that around 180 million data sets were reportedly hacked and leaked onto the dark web.
She emphasized the potential danger this poses to the public, highlighting the extensive and detailed nature of the compromised information.
