WhatsApp has started allowing users to reserve usernames ahead of the global rollout.
With the new unique username feature, users can soon chat without sharing their phone numbers, and people must know a user’s exact username to start a conversation.
According to WhatsApp, username reservations begin on June 29 to give users a chance to claim their preferred names before the feature becomes widely available.
A username generator is also available for users who need help creating one.
How to Reserve a WhatsApp Username?
To reserve a username, users need to update to the latest version of WhatsApp and go to Settings > Account > Username.
The feature will roll out gradually over the coming months.
