Twitter Reportedly Invites Laid-Off Workers Back

Twitter Inc. fired about half its employees on Friday after Elon Musk bought the company for $44 billion (₱2.5 trillion). Now, Bloomberg News says, the company is reaching out to dozens of those people and asking them to return to work.

Some of the people who are being asked to come back were fired in error. People who knew about the changes told the report that some people were let go before management realized their work and experience might be needed to build the new features Musk wants.

Yoel Roth, the head of safety and integrity at Twitter, said in a tweet earlier this week that the company had just fired half of its employees, including people on the trust and safety team.

Staff at the social media company said on Twitter that teams in charge of communications, content curation, human rights, machine learning ethics, and some product and engineering teams were wiped out.

In Musk’s first significant change to the social media site, he changed Twitter’s app in the Apple App Store on Saturday to start charging $8 (around ₱500) for the famous blue check verification marks.
