On Monday, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) declared that it will suspend toll penalties for violations of the Revised Guidelines for All Vehicles on Toll Expressways until operational issues affecting toll operators are resolved, according to GMA News Online.
The toll penalties for motorists entering expressways without Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) devices or with insufficient load were first set to begin on August 31 of this year.
Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista highlighted that the implementation of penalties is now extended to January next year.
The Revised Guidelines outline specific toll penalties for various violations: motorists entering toll roads without a valid RFID or electronic toll collection (ETC) device will face fines starting at PHP1,000 to PHP5,000 per offense.
The TRB aims to ensure that the toll system operates smoothly and fairly for all motorists.
Toll penalties for those without an RFID device while using expressways will start at PHP1,000 for the first offense, PHP2,000 for the second offense, and PHP5,000 for the third and subsequent offenses.
On the other hand, for those with insufficient balance, fines will start at PHP500 for the first offense, PHP1,000 for the second offense, and PHP2,500 for the third and further offenses.
