The Pew Research Center’s latest study revealed that TikTok’s role as a news source has surged, with 43% of its users accessing news on the app in 2023, up from 22% in the previous year.
This study also highlighted the growing reliance on social media for news consumption, as half of U.S. adults obtain news from various social platforms.
Pew’s survey, based on responses from 8,842 U.S. adults, noted that news websites or apps remain popular, accessed by 67% of participants.
As shared by Helen Coster, Pew’s analysis showed varying demographics among regular news consumers across different social platforms.
