We’re back with another gaming review, and this time, we’re putting the TECNO Spark 30 to the test.
In our previous review, we talked about what this device has to offer in the current market.
Now, we’ll see how the TECNO Spark 30 performs with games. Can it handle graphically demanding titles? Let’s find out!
Settings: High Frame Rates, High Graphics
We started with Mobile Legends. The default settings were set to high frames and high graphics quality, but we pushed the graphics to ultra to test its full potential. The gameplay was smooth, with no stuttering or frame drops throughout our playthrough. The only minor issue was a bit of stutter on the home screen after launching the game, but overall, the experience was impressive.
Settings: Quality (90fps)
Next up was League of Legends: Wild Rift. The game took a while to load the home screen, and we experienced some stuttering there as well.
However, once we were in the game, everything ran smoothly. We set the game to 90 frames per second with high graphics and medium on other settings. The performance was responsive, and we consistently maintained 60fps without stutters or frame drops.
Settings: Low Graphics, Medium Frame Rate
For Call of Duty: Mobile, the default settings were set to low graphics and medium frames. It took some time to load into a game, but once we were in, the performance was decent. However, after a few minutes of gameplay, we started noticing stuttering and frame drops, especially during gunfights, which made it hard to land accurate shots.
Settings: Lowest Graphics, 30fps (bumped to 60fps)
Moving on to more demanding titles, we tried Honkai: Star Rail. It took about a minute to get past the homepage and load the game, which isn’t ideal. In the overworld, we noticed frame drops and stuttering, making it difficult to enjoy the game fully.
Combat was particularly affected, with noticeable performance issues. We recommend only using this device for dailies, as playing through combat isn’t enjoyable. The device also felt warmer than with the previous games.
Settings: Lowest Graphics, 30fps (bumped to 60fps)
The experience with Zenless Zone Zero was similar to Honkai: Star Rail. Even with the same settings, we faced frequent frame drops and stuttering, which is problematic for a fighting game. Like Honkai: Star Rail, this game is best suited for quick daily tasks on this device.
Overall, the TECNO Spark 30 delivered good performance for casual and competitive games. It did well with MOBA titles, offering a decent gaming experience at an affordable price.
However, for games like Call of Duty: Mobile, occasional frame drops can make competitive gameplay challenging.
If you’re looking to play more demanding games like Genshin Impact or other HoYoverse titles, we recommend investing in a higher-end device for the best experience.
For a smartphone priced at PHP6,999 for the 8GB + 256GB variant, the TECNO Spark 30 performs surprisingly well for its price.
