Synology has introduced the DP5200, a new 1U ActiveProtect data protection appliance.
The DP5200 offers up to 36TB of usable storage and includes Synology’s ActiveProtect Manager (APM) backup software.
It supports backup for multiple platforms.

According to Synology, support for additional platforms such as Azure VM, Amazon EC2, Nutanix AHV, Proxmox VE, and Google Workspace will be added through the upcoming APM 2.0 update.
The appliance can be used as a standalone backup server for a single site or as a centralized management server. In central management mode, it can manage up to 120,000 workloads and monitor 1,000 backup servers across multiple locations from a single interface.
For security, the DP5200 includes features such as multi-factor authentication (MFA), immutable WORM storage, logical air-gapped backups, and version-based tiering.

Synology also said the upcoming APM 2.0 update will introduce AI and machine learning tools to help detect backup anomalies and scan backups for malware before data restoration.
The Synology DP5200 is now available, but pricing and local availability in the Philippines have not yet been announced.
