SSS Launches MySSS Card, Replaces UMID in October

MySSS Card

The Social Security System (SSS) has launched the MySSS Card, a new identification card.

With that being said, the new MySSS Card will officially replace the Unified Multi-Purpose ID (UMID) card.

The card also works as a debit card, which allows members, pensioners, and beneficiaries to receive pensions, loans, and other benefits directly, while also being usable for shopping, transportation payments, and online purchases.

Not only that, but it will also serve as a valid ID for SSS-related transactions and may be accepted by other government agencies or private institutions, depending on their policies.

According to SSS President and CEO Robert Joseph Montes De Claro, the MySSS Card is equipped with an EMV chip, biometric authentication, and integration with the National ID system for added security.

Once issued, it will automatically serve as the member’s main disbursement account, removing the need for separate enrollment under the Disbursement Account Enrollment Module (DAEM).

How to Get your MySSS Card?

  1. Sign in to your My.SSS account online.
  2. Choose “MySSS Card” under the Services menu.
  3. Confirm your identity
  4. Send in your application and wait for a confirmation email.
  5. Complete verification.
  6. Wait for a text or app notice once your card is ready. (Delivery takes about 15 working days in Metro Manila and 20 days outside the capital)

NOTE: To qualify, applicants must have a permanent SS number, an active My.SSS Portal account, updated contact details in SSS records, and a valid National ID.

The rollout begins with Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) through its DiskarTech platform.

Other banks, including Asia United Bank (AUB), China Bank, and Union Bank, are expected to join soon to provide more options for members.
