Sony’s PS5 Hits 50 Million Sold in 3 Years!

According to Sony’s blog post PlayStation 5 has just soared past the 50 million sales milestone, achieving this feat in just a smidge over three years – a mere week longer than its predecessor, the PlayStation 4. Despite facing supply chain hurdles and a global pandemic, the PS5’s popularity is skyrocketing.

What’s fueling this frenzy? Enthusiastic gamers are diving headfirst into the PS5 experience, driven by recent blockbusters like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 from Insomniac Games, along with crowd-pleasers such as Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian Studios and Alan Wake 2 from Remedy Entertainment and Epic Games. EA SPORTS FC 24, the latest in the perennial sports series, and the PlayStation debut of the universally loved Roblox are also captivating players of all ages.

Achieving this PS5 sales milestone is a testament to the unwavering support of the global PlayStation community and their passion for the incredible experiences created by the talented developers from PlayStation Studios and our partners,” said Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

In July, Sony shared the news of hitting 40 million PS5 units sold. Now, they’ve blown past that, reaching an impressive 50 million. With the holiday season upon us, the excitement of festive shopping is expected to give these numbers an extra boost.
