Sony Xperia XZ officially launched: new 23MP camera, P37k official price

Sony Xperia XZ flagship officially launched

The new Sony Xperia XZ is the update to the Xperia X Performance and Xperia X. It packs a 5.2-inch 1080p display, improved 23MP camera with Triple Image Sensing, refined aluminum and waterproof build, and the same powerful Snapdragon 820 quad-core chip–all for P37k Philippine price or about 699 euros (GBP 599).

The Sony Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact will be released this end of September with the latter retailing for P24k price or 449 euros.

With a new 23MP Sony IMX300 camera and a set of sensors, the Xperia XZ is a big improvement over its predecessors. The Triple Image Sensing technology is composed of the laser focus assistance, phase detection, and RGB color sensor for more accurate and faster shooting experience.

Sony is also bringing back the 4K video with a better 5-axis image stabilization and low light performance.

Design-wise, Sony is touting its ALKALEIDO material which is wrapped on a curved treatment on the Xperia XZ. The USB Type-C port is also new on the duo and both support Quick Charging 3.0 using the proprietary adapter of Sony.

Both run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box but the company already promised a Nougat software update later this year.

Xperia xz has no FM radio. Disappointing.

  2. Mike P says:

Good day manilashaker! I just got my Christmas bonus and Im planning to buy this phone. I’ve narrowed down my choices to this phone(Xperia XZ dual 64gb), Samsung Galaxy S7 edge (i really wanted the Note 7 but we all know what happened, and Im currently using SG Note 4) and LG G5 or V20. And I also saw a just recently released midrange Samsung Galaxy A8(2016) at one of the online stores costing 23k touting last year’s chipsets, I like the mint color and its new grace ui like the Note 7. What would you suggest among this smartphones, Im into games(mostly 3D) and multimedia content at my spare time and is the 3gb ram of the Xperia XZ a deal breaker considering its price against it competitors having 4gb? Thanks and more power!
