Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 vs Huawei Mate Xs 2: Specs Comparision

With the release of the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Samsung is back this year, but the Huawei Mate Xs 2 is one of several rivalries in the foldable phone market. Due to the way their foldable displays are made, both foldable phones provide flagship-level internals and top-tier technologies. Does Samsung still dominate the foldable phone market against the Mate Xs 2 even if the Fold 4 feels essentially identical to its predecessor, with the exception of minor changes to its dimensions?

To know more about these two smartphones, we have created quick spec sheets for the two competitors:

DISPLAY

Although the Mate Xs 2’s panel is significantly larger at 7.8 inches, both phones have malleable OLED displays with a 120 Hz refresh rate (vs. 7.6-inches on the Z Fold 4). The Fold 4 continues to use an under-display camera to maintain the seamless design of the huge display, in contrast to the Mate Xs 2, which settles for a punch-hole for its selfie camera. The Galaxy Z Fold4’s folding phone was modified by Samsung to be shorter and broader so that it too has a close-to-square aspect ratio after taking note of the Mate Xs 2’s nearly square foldable display.

DESIGN

The Mate Xs 2’s outward flexible design is Huawei’s aim to stand out from the competition, while the Galaxy Z Fold4’s inward folding design is more useful because it shields the malleable AMOLED screen from the elements. With its 6.2-inch 120hz AMOLED outside display, the Galaxy Z Fold4’s design enables you to use it as a standard phone.

CAMERA

The main camera of the Z Fold 4 now has a high-resolution sensor from Samsung, enabling it to compete head-to-head with the 50MP main camera of the Mate Xs 2. According to the spec sheets, the Fold 4 is superior to the Mate Xs 2 since it upgrades its new main camera with OIS. With regard to the ultra-wide lens, the selfie camera which is the Fold 4 has two selfie snappers, the other being the 10MP lens located in a punch-hole on the outside display, and the telephoto camera. Technically, both phones are essentially equal. The Fold4 showcases a higher-resolution 10MP with 3x optical zoom, while the Mate Xs 2 employs an 8MP camera lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS. In addition to being able to record 4K video at up to 60FPS, both foldable phones boast strong camera functions.

CHIPSET, OS, and BATTERY

With a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 CPU, up to 12GB of RAM, and as much as 1TB of internal storage, the Fold 4 goes all-in. On its own, such factors alone boost the Fold 4 much above Mate Xs 2. The operating system brought by the Fold 4 is better because it has Google Play Services, and it will not be difficult to install the apps you are looking for and need. Yet, Huawei has alternate ways to install apps that you need and want. On the Fold 4, however, Samsung offers the same 4400mAh battery alongside 25W wired and 15W wireless charging support. The Mate Xs 2 is therefore marginally superior because of its 4600mAh battery and capability for a fast 66w wired charging.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

While the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is about to be released, it is estimated to cost Php 98,990 for the 256GB variant, Php 105,990 for the 512GB model, and Php 119,990 for the 1TB model, the Mate Xs 2 is priced in the Philippines at Php 99,999 for the 8GB/512GB edition. Pricing for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is quite competitive, and it appears that Samsung is still confident enough to rule the folding phone market.
