The Redmi Pad, the company’s first tablet, was introduced earlier this month. It is, as many people predicted, a low-cost tablet. However, it is not a low-cost gadget; rather, it is an excellent mid-range. As a result, it is placed in the most competitive area of the tablet market. It has various competitors in this sector, the most recent of which is the OPPO Pad Air. While the Redmi Pad is Redmi’s first tablet, this is OPPO’s second tablet, as well as the first to penetrate the worldwide market. They are also in the same price range. So, which one should you go for to get the best bang for your buck? This is a comparison of the major specifications of the Redmi Pad and the OPPO Pad Air that should help you decide.

Design

A nice and portable tablet is essential for individuals who wish to bring it anywhere and show it to their friends or colleagues. The OPPO Pad Air is unquestionably the most attractive of the two tablets. Not only that, but it is one of the most visually appealing tablets on the market. It has an extremely tiny body: its thickness is only 6.9 mm. The bezels around the display are quite thin, and the back cover is constructed of two distinct materials, which is really appealing. Even though it has an aluminum frame, the Redmi Pad is noticeably hideous. Although it is still a tiny tablet, it is larger and has thicker bezels around the display. It will never be able to compete with OPPO. Unfortunately, these tablets can only be accessed with a password and lack biometric sensors.

Display

In terms of visual quality, the screens of these two gadgets are fairly similar. The size and refresh rate are the most significant distinctions between them. The Redmi Pad sports a larger screen with a diagonal of 10.61 inches rather than 10.36 inches. Furthermore, it boasts a high refresh rate of 90 Hz rather than simply 60 Hz, allowing for a better experience during gaming sessions and while surfing the user interface. Because they are IPS LCD panels, don’t anticipate brilliant color reproduction. They are still extremely impressive, though, because they can display one billion colors. They also have a high degree of detail because of their 1200 x 2000 pixel resolution. Even the brightness, at 360 or 400 nits, is enough. These tablets include dual speakers for an enhanced music experience. Unfortunately, they do not include a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Camera

While both tablets’ main cameras have 8MP sensors with identical photo quality, the Redmi Pad has a superior front camera with an 8MP resolution and an ultrawide lens with a FOV of up to 105 degrees.

Specs & Performance

Both of these tablets are mid-range, however, they use different chipsets. And if you want the finest performance, the Redmi Pad from Xiaomi is the way to go. It is the world’s first tablet to use MediaTek’s Helio G99 mobile platform. It is a midrange chipset designed with a 6 nm fabrication process and featuring an octa-core architecture comprised of two Cortex A76 CPUs operating at 2.2 GHz, six Cortex A55 CPUs running at 2 GHz, and a Mali G57 MC2 GPU, as well as up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage. The OPPO Pad Air is powered by a Snapdragon 680 chipset with a 6 nm manufacturing process and an octa-core architecture comprising four Kryo 265 Gold CPUs operating at 2.4 GHz, four Kryo 265 Silver CPUs running at 1.9 GHz, and an Adreno 610 GPU. This device’s maximum memory configuration is the same, with up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of native storage. The Helio G99 processor outperforms the Snapdragon 680. These two tablets both run Android 12 out of the box, with heavily customized user interfaces on top, and the OPPO offers tablet-specific capabilities.

Battery

The Redmi Pad has a longer battery life due to the availability of a larger 8000 mAh battery, yet charging rates remain the same.

Price & Availability

The Redmi Pad starts at €250 or $250 (approximately Php14,729) in China, while the OPPO Pad Air starts at Php13,999. Which one would you choose now that you know all of the distinctions?
