NTC Orders Telcos to Repair and Restore Services Immediately

On Monday, the National Telecommunications Commission told all public telecommunications companies affected by tropical storm “Paeng” to quickly get their services back up and running. NTC Orders Telcos to Repair and Restore Services Immediately

Ella Blanca B. Lopez, the deputy commissioner in charge at the NTC, wrote the order.

“You are directed to ensure that there is a sufficient number of technical and support personnel and standby generators with extra fuel, tools, and spare equipment in the affecte areas,” the NTC memo say.

The NTC also told public telcos “to deploy Libreng Tawag and Libreng Charging Stations in strategic areas affected by the tropical depression.”

The commission will want to know how things are going with the ongoing restoration work.

The telcos’ network and facilities will be checke out. And a time frame will be give for the complete restoration of service.

Paeng was the 16th tropical cyclone to hit the Philippines in 2022 and the fourth in October. It hit land five times, all on Saturday. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council says it killed at least 45 people and hurt dozens more.
