Design

While it’s difficult to make a tablet visually appealing, we give the OPPO Pad Air kudos for its dual-tone design, which adds an extra splash of flare. Both the Redmi Pad and the OPPO Pad Air have unibody metal frames for a sturdy design, but neither has an integrated headphone jack—you’ll need to use a USB-C dongle or a pair of USB-C earbuds instead.

Display

While both tablets feature the standard front panel design with symmetrical bezels, the Redmi Pad not only has a slightly bigger display but also a 90hz refresh rate, which is quite unusual on a mid-range tablet. Aside from the display variations, both are on equal footing with their quad-speaker system, which supports both Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio.

Cameras

Cameras aren’t a tablet’s strong suit, but it’s worth mentioning that the Redmi Pad boasts a higher-resolution 8-megapixel selfie camera with a 105-degree field of view. Both cameras on the back have an 8-megapixel sensor.

Internals and Battery

While both tablets have 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage, they differ in technology: the OPPO Pad Air has a Snapdragon 680 engine, while the Redmi Pad has a Helio G99 chipset. According to reports, the Helio G99 outperforms the Snapdragon 680, but we would need to do our own testing to validate this.

Although both tablets allow 18w wired charging, the Redmi Pad has a bigger 8000mAh battery.
