Redmi K30 To Feature 120Hz and New Sony 60MP Flagship Camera


According to MIUI 11 code, with a codename “Phoenix“, the upcoming phone is said to sport 120Hz screen refresh rate and Sony’s upcoming 60MP flagship sensor. The device is none other than the recently rumored Redmi K30. If this trend continues, we’ll be able to see the full spec sheet of the phone before it launches.

Redmi K30 To Use 120Hz Display and Sony 60MP IMX686 Flagship Sensor

Buried and hidden deep down the settings of MIUI 11, a feature to switch between 60Hz and 120Hz was found. The sign points to Redmi K30 as the feature only activates when the codename “Phoenix” matches. As for the Sony 60MP IMX686, XDA Developers found these strings of code:

  • phoenix_imx686 (60MP Sony)
  • phoenix_s5k3t2 (20MP Samsung)
  • phoenix_gc02m1_depth
  • phoenix_gc02m1_front

This gives us an assumption of having four cameras to boot, however, that could still change until the official launch. We don’t have any details regarding the 20MP but it’s said to be a Samsung sensor. As for the last two, it’s already confirmed that Redmi K30 will feature two pin-holes for the selfie cameras.

Last but not least is the use of a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. From the same source code, a figure matching the description of Redmi K30 is included. Furthermore, the code reveals two codenames for this biometric feature — the second being “Picasso“. As for that second phone, it’s possible that it could be the Redmi K30 Pro, but at this point, we’re just spitballing.

Redmi K30 is expected to be announced in December in India or Europe. While the recent information seems to be convincing, this still doesn’t mean that all of it will arrive in Redmi’s upcoming affordable flagship smartphone.
