realme has recently announced in an event that its upcoming flagship smartphone, the GT 2 Pro, will be the company’s first handset to be powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset.
The realme GT 2 Pro will be one of the first smartphones to come with the said chipset. More so, the smartphone is the first Pro product within the series and the most premium flagship offering of realme.
During the event, realme VP Chase Xu said in his video speech that Qualcomm Technologies has always been one of the brand’s most important collaborators. Xu added that with the development of the realme GT 2 Pro starting a few months ago, the company is committed to delivering a real high-end flagship product that will exceed the expectations of young users worldwide.
As a recap, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is designed on a 4nm manufacturing process. It is equipped with one Cortex-X2 prime core at 3GHz, three Cortex-A710 performance cores at 2.5GHz, and four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores at 1.8GHz with a 35 percent performance boost and 20 percent efficiency improvement. The company claims that it is 20 percent more powerful and 30 percent more power-efficient than Snapdragon 888.
The chip also features the new Adreno GPU that promises to provide a 30 percent boost in performance and a 25 percent improvement in power savings compared to the previous generation.

Back to the smartphone, leaks have surfaced recently suggesting that the GT 2 Pro will have a horizontal camera bump at the back consisting of two 50MP cameras and an 8MP lens. It is said to sport a 6.8-inch WQHD+ OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, and it will pack a 5,000mAh battery with 125W UltraDart charging.
