Honor just revealed its new Dual Flagship plan at the IFA 2022, which includes the introduction of new conventional phones and new foldable phones on the old continent. The company also unveiled the new Honor Pad 8 for the European market in addition to the new Honor 70. A few days prior, OPPO introduced the OPPO Pad Air, its first tablet, to the old Continent. These two gadgets are in the same range and have comparable specs. Which, however, is the best? A piece like this one is the only way to comprehend it. This comparison of the key features of the OPPO Pad Air and Honor Pad 8 will show you the key distinctions between these two excellent tablets in the budget-friendly market.

The OPPO Pad Air’s design is unquestionably more refined. Its two-piece back side has a very delicate texture throughout, including the metal. Although it is smaller and lighter than the Honor Pad 8, there is not much of a difference in the two devices’ batteries. The winner in the design comparison is the OPPO Pad Air. The display occupies more than 80% of the front panel, giving it an extremely high screen-to-body ratio. It has a single camera on the back and is only 6.9 mm thin. Sadly, there is no fingerprint reader; nonetheless, this simplifies the design. It weighs 440 grams and measures 245.1 x 154.8 x 6.9 mm overall. The Honor Pad 8 is larger, heavier, and has a complete aluminum unibody build, but its design is less stunning than that of its competitor. It also has a much higher screen-to-body ratio.
In terms of display quality, the screens of these two tablets are roughly comparable. They are Full HD+ IPS LCD panels with a resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels and the ability to display up to one billion colors. Considering that these devices are tablets, they are not high-end displays because they are not even OLED screens, yet they nevertheless offer excellent color reproduction. It is hard to find better screens in this price range. The size of these two panels, however, is what truly sets them apart from one another: the Honor Pad 8 has a larger 12-inch display while the OPPO Pad Air’s panel only measures 10.36 inches. Because of this, the Honor is great for advanced users, learning, and productivity. Furthermore, the Honor Pad 8 should offer a better audio experience because it has eight speakers instead of the OPPO tablet’s four.
The Snapdragon 680 processor, manufactured by Qualcomm using a 6 nm manufacturing technique, powers both the OPPO Pad Air and the Honor Pad 8. It is a midrange SoC with an octa-core architecture made up of an Adreno 610 GPU, four custom Kryo 265 Gold cores operating at a maximum frequency of 2.4 GHz, four custom Kryo 265 Silver cores operating at 1.9 GHz, and four Kryo 265 Gold custom cores. It is a powerful CPU with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal UFS 2.2 storage, making it suitable for all tasks. Performance-wise, it’s practically a tie. There is just one significant difference: the OPPO tablet’s internal storage can be expanded with a micro SD card, but the Honor Pad 8 doesn’t appear to feature a micro SD slot. Not to mention, the OPPO Pad Air appears to have better software: we’re referring to the ColorOS for Pad based on Android 12: a variation of the ColorOS user interface created exclusively for tablets.
Again, the OPPO Pad Air is the superior choice if you’re searching for a better camera. It has a fantastic 8MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture on the back, which is an improvement over the Honor Pad 8’s dismal 5MP camera. With 5MP resolutions, the front cameras are about on par with the rear ones. These tablets are not the best for taking pictures, but they work for emergency situations.
Although the Honor Pad 8 has a larger tablet and a larger battery, the difference between the two is quite slight: 7250mAh against 7100mAh. The Honor tablet should still be able to survive longer on a single charge with this, though. Additionally, the Honor Pad 8 charges more quickly and is the only one that supports reverse charging, owing to a faster 22.5W charging technology.
For the basic model of the OPPO Pad Air with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of native storage, the beginning price of Php13,999, whereas the base model of the Honor Pad 8 with the same memory configuration is Php13,115. Due to its micro SD slot, superior build quality, smaller size, excellent software, and superior camera, I personally prefer the OPPO, however, the Honor Pad 8 has a larger battery and a larger screen. Which would you choose?
