HMD Global continues to bolster its premium mid-range lineup as a new report surfaces regarding an affordable 5G phone that might be a potential alternative to the newly-released Nokia 8.3 two months ago. Instead of going again with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G, HMD is opting for Dimensity 800 series which could either be the 820 or 800.
Nokia 8.3 is the first 5G phone to support all global 5G bands. While it’s an impressive feat for a premium mid-range, the near-flagship price of €599(~P33K) is a tough pill to swallow. With a 5G MediaTek chipset, we might see a significant price drop. While the report did not reveal any phone model, speculations point out to Nokia 7.3 that has been revealed with 4G and 5G prototypes.
MediaTek has been all over the place lately thanks to its affordable 5G offerings. By far, this has been the company’s best year as more and more brands adopt its new chipsets.
