Globe Launches Starlink Satellite-to-Mobile Service in PH

Globe has launched its Starlink satellite-to-mobile service in the Philippines after receiving approval from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

It is the first mobile network in the country to commercially offer the service.

The new service lets compatible Globe users connect to Starlink satellites when there’s no regular mobile signal. They can send texts, use messaging apps, make voice calls, and join video calls in areas with no cellular coverage or during network outages.

To use the service, customers need a compatible LTE smartphone, an active Globe SIM, and a Globe Starlink subscription.

Some Android devices may also require data roaming to be turned on to connect to the satellite network. Globe said this will not result in additional roaming charges when used within the Philippines. Meanwhile, iPhone support is not yet available.

Globe Prepaid and TM subscribers can subscribe starting at PHP 99, while Globe Postpaid subscribers with Plan PHP 1,499 and above, including Globe Platinum users, can access the service at no extra cost.
