Xiaomi to Reduce Bloatware but Ads Remain Hard to Disable

Xiaomi‘s user interfaces often feature ads, and while it’s possible to disable them, the process remains complex.

Xiaomi Bloatware and Ads

In a statement to Android Authority, Xiaomi clarified its plans to enhance user experience by cutting down on pre-installed apps and streamlining content display.

However, the company has confirmed that it will not be implementing a dedicated ad-disabling toggle, citing limited user benefit:

“We aren’t currently planning to add a toggle that realistically, only a small number of users would discover and use.”

At present, users must manually disable ads by navigating to the MSA app in settings and individually adjusting settings in apps like File Manager, Music, and Downloads. This multi-step process is seen as less user-friendly compared to a single toggle solution.

While the move to reduce bloatware is a positive step, the absence of a straightforward ad-disabling option continues to be a point of frustration for many users.
