With the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy A57 5G in the Philippines, let’s take a look at how it differs from the Samsung Galaxy A56 5G, which was launched in the same month last year.
Or do they really have any differences at all? Let’s find out in this simple specs comparison.
Both models keep a similar overall design approach, featuring a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Brightness levels are also close, with 1200 nits (HBM) on both, but the A57 increases peak brightness to 1900 nits, which may help in very bright outdoor conditions.
Performance seems to be a modest upgrade as the Galaxy A56 uses the Exynos 1580 (4nm), while the Galaxy A57 moves to the Exynos 1680 (4nm).
Samsung also notes improvements in CPU, GPU, and NPU efficiency on the newer chip, suggesting better overall speed and AI processing, though both remain in the same mid-range tier.
Camera setups are largely unchanged in hardware.
Both phones feature a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 5MP macro camera.
The front camera is also the same at 12MP with HDR video support, meaning changes here are likely software-based rather than hardware upgrades.

Speaking of software improvements, the Galaxy A57 introduces what Samsung calls Smooth Zoom Transitions, marketed as a first for the A-series.
When switching between the main and ultra-wide lenses while zooming, the phone is designed to maintain focus and clarity throughout the transition. In contrast, the A56 may show a brief blur before sharpening again.
Battery and charging remain identical at 5000mAh with 45W fast charging on both models.

There are a few practical differences in build and connectivity. The Galaxy A57 is slightly lighter and thinner at 179 grams and 6.9mm, compared to the A56 at 198 grams and 7.4mm.
The Galaxy A57 also upgrades to IP68 water and dust resistance (from Galaxy A56’s IP67), Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 6.0, while the A56 has Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.3.

Storage options also differ slightly. The A57 offers up to 512GB, while the A56 tops out at 256GB. Still, neither device supports microSD expansion.
Below are the quick specs for both devices:
As for the SRP pricing, there is a clear difference between the two models.
The Galaxy A56 5G starts at PHP 23,990 for the 8GB + 128GB variant and PHP 25,990 for the 8GB + 256GB model, while the Galaxy A57 5G is priced higher at PHP 28,990 for 8GB + 128GB, PHP 30,990 for 8GB + 256GB, and PHP 37,990 for the 12GB + 512GB variant.
The latter is roughly PHP 5,000 to PHP 12,000 more expensive, depending on the configuration.
What do you think? Does the Galaxy A57 5G’s higher price make sense for the upgrades it brings, or is the Galaxy A56 5G still the better value?
