Apple has announced iOS 27, introducing a new AI-powered version of Siri.
The new Siri AI is designed to handle more natural conversations, answer broader questions, and perform actions across apps.
Users can ask Siri to find photos, emails, notes, and other content stored on their devices. Siri can also help create reminders, send messages, manage events, and perform tasks in supported apps.
Apple is also launching a dedicated Siri app that stores conversations and allows users to continue chats across Apple devices.
Another new feature, Siri mode in Camera, allows users to search for information about objects and scenes directly from the camera viewfinder using visual recognition technology.
The update includes several AI-powered features across apps, such as writing assistance, suggested actions in Messages and Mail, smarter tab organization in Safari, password security improvements, and automation tools in Shortcuts.
iOS 27 also adds new AI-powered photo-editing features, including tools to reframe images, expand photo backgrounds, and remove unwanted objects. The update also brings improvements to Image Playground, Apple’s image generation tool.
For families, Apple is introducing new child safety features. Parents will be able to control which apps children can access, approve requests to visit new websites, set app usage schedules, and manage screen time limits.
Communication Safety has also been expanded to help detect and warn about violent or graphic content in addition to nudity.
Apple said iOS 27 will be released this fall. Siri AI and some AI-powered features will initially launch in English later this year.
