Meta has announced a big change on Messenger.
According to a notice by Meta, the standalone Messenger.com will be officially unavailable starting this year. While the Messenger desktop app is no longer available.

With that being said, the dedicated browser Messenger will no longer be available for users.
Moving forward, Meta is consolidating its web-based messaging back into the Facebook interface, and users will be redirected to facebook.com/messages to continue chats on the web.
Keep in mind that people using Messenger without a Facebook account can still chat via the mobile app.
Meta also states that chat history can still be restored on any platform using a PIN.
As mentioned, Meta will stop supporting messaging from messenger.com starting April 2026.
