MediaTek introduced the Helio P60 mobile chipset in the market earlier this year. Today, the Taiwan-based mobile chipset manufacturer is reported to have been working on a more powerful chipset for months already and is now gearing up to launch its new chipset later this month.
The Helio P70 will be built on the same 12nm design process and will arrive with an octa-core processor, with four A73 cores and four A53 cores, paired with Mali-G72 GPU. Moving on to what’s new with this chipset, instead of an APU (Accelerated Processing Unit), the MediaTek Helio P70 will use a Neural Processing Unit (NPU), which will provide higher performance than the older AI-focused chipset.
According to previous reports, the Helio P70 carries support up to 8GB of RAM, eMMC 5.1 or UFS 2.1 storage, 3 ISPs with support for up to 32-megapixel and Cat. 12 LTE modem. Apart from that, it will support AI technology as well as facial recognition. it has support for AR/VR and 3D sensor functions as well.
In case you missed the report a few months back, the unannounced P70 appeared on AnTuTu and got a score of 156,906.
