LG Sold 50,000 LG Wing Units Only, Far From 2 Million Target

2020 had been a dreadful year for everyone, but the tech world never stopped innovating in a bid to make mobile devices exciting once again. While we saw tons of amazing foldable phones last year, it was also the time wherein new form factors came; one of them was LG Wing

The Wing was LG’s effort to combat folding phones. Instead of folding a plastic screen, the company installed two glass screens to use — one is a regular-sized display that slides horizontally, occupying the upper half of the device. The second is the lower-half, which is basically a half-screen.

According to a report, LG Wing got hit with poor sales last year, with 50,000 units sold in South Korea. The company also tried to convince users that they need LG Wing in their lives as the device even appeared in the movie “Songbird” and American talk show, Jimmy Kimmer Live!

Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to keep the sales figure of the LG Wing afloat. Apparently, LG aimed to sell 2 million units, far from the actual recorded sale.

Given that the LG Wing is a first-gen product, the company shouldn’t have expected huge figures; the first Galaxy Fold only managed to hit 1 million. However, 2021 is going to be an interesting year for LG as it’s gearing up for its rollable mobile display.
