Vivo X60 & X60 Pro Launched: Exynos 1080

Alas, the first Exynos 1080 devices are here, and it’s not from Samsung. After weeks of leaks, Vivo X60 and X60 Pro are now official, at least in China. The X60 Series follows up the X50 Series that launched earlier this year. And while not a lot has changed in terms of design and look, the features packed inside the two premium devices have been changed drastically.

Starting with what’s similar between the X60 and X60 Pro, the Exynos 1080 is the 5nm chipset from Samsung that’s almost on-par with Snapdragon 888. Both devices are paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, but the X60 has a base model of 8GB/128GB. There’s also a smaller battery at 4200mAh versus 4300mAh of the Pro model, but regardless, you’re still getting the same 33W charger.

The displays of the X60 Series are identical, featuring 6.56″ FHD+ AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate. Additionally, HDR10+ certification and 32MP centered-pinhole camera are present. However, only the X60 Pro has curved sides as opposed to the flat panel of the X60.

Aside from partnering with Exynos for the chipset, Vivo also tapped Zeiss to bolster the camera hardware of the X60 Series. Whether you’re getting the Pro or vanilla model, you get the same Zeiss-branded 48MP Sony IMX598 sensor with gimbal-level OIS, 13MP telephoto for 2x optical zoom, and 8MP ultrawide with macro support. However, the X60 Pro adds another 8MP lens to allow up to 5x optical zoom. Vivo is also boasting its new night mode that works on wide, ultrawide, and telephoto.

As of writing, Vivo X60 and X60 Pro are up for pre-order in China, with sales starting from January 8, 2021. For the 8GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB, the X60 will cost CNY 3,498(~Php25,700) and CNY 3,798(~Php27,900), while the X60 Pro will set you back at CNY 4,498(~Php33,100). There’s no information yet regarding global availability, including the Philippines.

Vivo plans to launch the X60 Pro+ at a later date with Snapdragon 888. Coincidentally, Xiaomi will also do the same for the Mi 11 Pro.
