Jolla Phone with Linux OS unveiled

Finnish smartphone company Jolla is stepping back into the smartphone market with the announcement of the new-generation Jolla Phone.

The new Jolla Phone highlights the privacy-focused Sailfish OS 5, which is the latest version of Jolla’s Linux-based mobile platform. The OS is claimed as the only commercially successful European mobile operating system, and contains no trackers, no background data collection, and no Google Play Services.

The Sailfish OS 5 still supports Android applications. There’s also a physical privacy switch found on the phone’s left side that instantly disables the microphone, camera, Bluetooth, and other sensors.

For specs, the Jolla Phone sports a 6.36-inch Full HD AMOLED panel with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It also features a 50MP main camera paired with a 13MP ultrawide shooter. Other mentioned specifications include 5G connectivity, 12GB RAM, 256GB internal storage (expandable up to 2TB via microSD card), dual nano-SIM card slots, and a removable battery.

The Jolla Phone is available for pre-order now with a €99 (~PHP 6,804) deposit, with a discounted full price of €499 (~PHP 34,296) and an expected regular retail price between €599 (~PHP 41,169) and €699 (~PHP 48,042). Those who will pre-order will receive a special edition back cover.

Production of the phone will begin if at least 2,000 pre-orders are placed by January 4, 2026.
