We’ve had our fair share of shooting time with Microsoft’s Lumia 950 XL and the part that it stood out the most is its camera features. It did extremely well in our review comparisons and was even able to show off against the Nokia camera powerhouse, Nokia Lumia 1020. Nokia’s Pureview technology
Nokia’s built-in Pureview technology, specifically built for their Lumia lineup and now to Microsoft’s Lumia lineup has been the star of various Lumia handsets in the past. A good example is the camera performer, Lumia 1020. The PureView technology houses an on-chip image processor, which performs an image scaling while images are oversampled giving the outputs incredible digital zoom quality and reduced noise.
This feature and its 20MP was surely something that could take out any minority and even majority camera phones in the market. The Lumia 950 XL is one of those who qualify to be one of the best camera shooters of this generation simply from being a PureView Lumia camera phone.
A smooth focusing speed
This advantage was rather a disadvantage in the Lumia 1020’s side. Unlike the Nokia Lumia 1020, who’s processing and focusing is rather weary, the Lumia 950 XL delivers a very profound, efficient and smooth focusing speed that you wouldn’t even expect from the handset itself.
It had its golden moments on a few of our review comparisons and we included there that the Lumia 950 XL was able to pair up with the smoothness of focusing, against the fast focusing speed of the Sony’s Z5.
Natural colors are exquisite
We were quite shocked as to how the Lumia 950 XL was able to shot as accurately and natural as possible, even under low light conditions. We were able to see a very impressive and intricate display of color blending and saturation from the Lumia 950 XL and was able to stand toe-to-toe against the best of 2015 (namely the LG V10, Sony Xperia Z5).
Rich Capture Feature is where it’s at
The Rich Capture feature of the recent Lumia camera phones is one of the today’s gold mines in the camera phone department. The easy-to-follow yet quality control efficient feature is something that we took into consideration greatly.
Great shots we’re formulated thanks to its auto HDR dynamics and the phone’s analytic prowess in the shooting is simply top-notch. Hopefully, in the future, we’ll see a more refined yet still true to the original rich capture mode.
