Instagram will no longer entertain TikTok content in its Reel. This is according to a recent statement given by Instagram. They would be changing their algorithm and how they recommend content to users of the app. With the announcement, Instagram updated their @creators account where they show tips on how your videos would be recommended and even promoted.

According to the team, they would highly recommend users of Reels to use the songs and sounds found in its library. They also advise to “start a trend,” like a dance craze for everyone to follow and share with their friends and followers. Videos that are covered with texts, blurry, or even have a watermark or a logo and have a slight border, would not be recommended.

“We’re building on what we’ve learned from Explore to recommend fun and entertaining videos in places like the Reels tab and personalize the experience. We are getting better at using ranking signals that help us predict whether people will find a reel entertaining and whether we should recommend it.” This is according to Devi Narasimhan to The Verge.

Narasimhan continued that according to their survey, it is likely that an individual would have a “less satisfying” Reels experience when they see something that is recycled already from another application or at times if it’s blurry. What will happen is that, people will no longer be entertained and have a high chance of not using the application.

Be reminded that this is after six months since Reels’ launch in the US. Ever since it was a location for TikTok videos to be uploaded but as time passes by, it seems that Reels is becoming something on its own. This is a good thing so that Reels will not just be an app to be utilized as an advertisement tool by TikTok. However, content creators would be having a hard time making new content for them to upload on every social media they own.
