Just after the launch of the Insta360 Luna Ultra, DJI sued Insta360 patent infringement in the US. Now, Insta360 has filed two countersuits against DJI.

The two countersuits accuses DJI of infringing on five of Insta360’s utility patents. These cover things like gimbal stabilization, directional control, smooth camera stabilization, telemetry overlay, and panoramic video stabilization, all incorporated into several DJI products, including the Osmo Pocket series, Ronin/RS series, Osmo Mobile series, and Osmo 360.
According to Insta360, these countersuits are a direct response to patent litigation that DJI filed on June 10, the day Luna Ultra launched.
“At Insta360, we prefer to let our products do the talking. But we are not afraid of a legal battle when challenged. We are fully committed to protecting our innovations and will take decisive action to defend our intellectual property from infringement,” said JK Liu, Founder of Insta360.
Insta360 has also firmly rejected DJI’s claims regarding the Luna Ultra.
“Luna Ultra is the result of years of independent R&D, not a response to any competitor’s product. Development began in 2020, with earlier Insta360 products including the ONE R, Link Series webcams, and Flow Series gimbals helping shape the technology and design direction behind Luna Ultra. DJI filing lawsuits on the same day we launched Luna Ultra speaks volumes—exposing their fear of competition from a highly competitive product,” added Liu.
The Luna Ultra is available in the Philippines in two variants: the Standard Bundle is priced at PHP 46,790, while the Creator Bundle is priced at PHP 59,490.
