DJI has filed two separate patent infringement lawsuits against Insta360.
In the first case, DJI alleges that Insta360’s new Luna series gimbal cameras infringe two of its design patents.
DJI claims the Luna Pro and Luna Ultra share a similar overall design and structure with its Osmo Pocket line, including the handheld body design, gimbal placement, and control layout.
The second lawsuit focuses on four utility patents. These cover features such as gimbal mode switching, built-in subject tracking, real-time viewing without needing a mobile app, and camera-based tracking that controls gimbal movement.
DJI says these technologies are used in the Luna products and related software.
DJI is seeking a permanent ban on sales of the products in the U.S., financial damages, and additional penalties, including claims that the alleged infringement was willful.
The company also says Insta360 continued using the disputed designs and features even after being made aware of the patents.
On the other hand, the Insta360 Luna Ultra is available in the Philippines in two variants: the Standard Bundle is priced at PHP46,790, while the Creator Bundle is priced at PHP59,490 in the Philippines.
