Huawei will be releasing a new feature for its smartwatch within the second half of 2021. The smartwatch will be featuring blood pressure monitoring according to Hua Hegang, a Huawei official in a new Weibo post.
In the post, it stated that Huawei’s smartwatch will be coming with an ECG (electrocardiogram) monitoring and China has already passed its registration as a medical device. Huawei’s device has already started rolling its clinical trials as well in several medical institutions in China.
Also, the smartphone company is planning to include hypertension management and coronary heart disease screening next to its smart body temperature health measurement. The way the ECG feature works is that it uses PPG and ACC data to identify immediately signs connecting to heart disease.
Huawei’s Watch 3 is reportedly being developed and would be expected to launch with the P50 series. As of the moment, the smartwatch will be using HarmonyOS and will have an eSIM functionality.
