A few months back, we got a hold of the HONOR 400 and tested out its features. Today, what we have here is its big brother, the HONOR 400 Pro 5G.
Compared to its predecessor, this one offers tons of major improvements, but is it a worthy upgrade? Let’s find out!

When it comes to build quality, the HONOR 400 Pro 5G offers slightly curved edges with a glass back panel and a plastic frame.
It feels premium and has an aesthetically pleasing appearance. The glass back panel features a matte finish that’s not prone to fingerprint smudges and, at the same time, provides a better grip.

In terms of dimensions, this device is on the heavier side, weighing 205g with a thickness of 8.1mm. Thanks to its design, however, it still feels comfortable in the hand. Additionally, it features an IP68 and IP69 rating, making it a durable device overall.

As for the functions around its frame, you’ll find the volume rockers and power button on the right side, a speaker grille, IR blaster, and microphone on top, plus another speaker grille, USB-C port, microphone, and SIM tray at the bottom.

Design- and build-wise, the HONOR 400 Pro 5G offers a unique-looking camera module alongside a solid and clean design. Its overall feel is great, so using it even without a case won’t be a problem.

Flipping over the device, the HONOR 400 Pro 5G boasts a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1280×2800. It supports up to a 120Hz refresh rate and reaches up to 5000 nits of peak brightness, so outdoor use is not an issue at all.

One of the notable changes from the base variant is the slightly curved display, though not so much that it affects day-to-day use.
In terms of display quality, it delivers superb color accuracy, sharpness, and impressive viewing angles.

Using it for multimedia consumption is great, you can binge-watch your favorite shows with little to no problems. Thanks to the slight curve on the sides, bezels are minimal, giving us a better viewing experience.
Moving on to its camera department, this device sports a triple-camera setup with a whopping 200MP main shooter, a 50MP telephoto, and a 12MP ultrawide/macro lens.

The front cutout houses a dual sensor with a 50MP main and a 2MP depth camera.
As for the rear camera quality, it delivers excellent results, sharp details with vibrant colors and a wide dynamic range without crushed blacks or overblown highlights.

For low-light photography, results show boosted brightness without compromising overall quality, though light flares are visible in night shots. In well-lit environments, expect detailed results with minimal softness around the edges.

Selfies also come out with good detail and true-to-life skin tones.
For video lovers, the HONOR 400 Pro 5G can shoot up to 4K@60FPS with its rear cameras and 4K@30FPS with the front.

Under the hood, it runs on a 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 paired with 12GB of RAM (plus 12GB virtual RAM) and 512GB of storage.
It ships with Android 15 and MagicOS 9.0. Out of the box, it does come with several pre-installed apps I’m not a fan of, so I recommend uninstalling those to free up space and declutter your screen.

For productivity, performance is excellent with smooth multitasking. Gaming is also impressive, playing Zenless Zone Zero resulted in little to no frame drops. Here are some of its benchmark results.
Benchmark Results

Powering the device is a 6000mAh battery paired with 100W fast charging and 50W wireless charging. In our video loop test, it lasted about 15 hours and 12 minutes at 50% brightness and volume.

Charging from 0 to 100% took only around 37 minutes, which is impressive considering its large battery.
Finally, the price. The HONOR 400 Pro 5G retails at PHP 32,999 for the 12GB+512GB configuration.

Overall, the HONOR 400 Pro 5G is a solid option if you’re looking for an affordable flagship-level smartphone.
It may not be the prettiest device on the market, but it offers an impressive display, commendable performance, and strong battery life. If you have the budget, this device is definitely worth considering.
