Grab has entered a partnership with Chinese carmaker GAC to introduce electric vehicles into its ride-hailing units across Southeast Asia.
Under the agreement, Grab will begin using three GAC electric models

These vehicles are built for commercial ride-hailing use, offering features such as wider door openings and more rear passenger space.
The partnership also covers software integration. Grab’s driver app will be embedded into GAC’s in-car system, allowing drivers to see navigation, trip requests, demand alerts, and safety messages directly on the vehicle’s main display. This reduces the need for separate devices while driving.

Both companies said they will also work on vehicle support and maintenance services.
Grab and GAC plan to roll out 20,000 EVs in several markets, including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines.
