Google has announced Gemini 3.5 Live Translate, which provides near real-time voice translation across more than 70 languages.
Unlike traditional translation systems that wait for a speaker to finish before translating, Gemini 3.5 Live Translate processes speech continuously.
According to Google, the model can translate conversations while preserving elements such as tone, pacing, and pitch, while keeping only a short delay behind the speaker.

The model automatically detects languages and is designed to work in multilingual conversations without requiring manual language selection. It also includes noise-handling capabilities to support use in busy environments.
Google said the update will expand speech translation in Google Meet from five supported languages to more than 70 languages.
For Android users, Google is introducing a new “listening mode” in the Google Translate app. The feature allows translated audio to be played directly through a phone’s earpiece.

Google said all audio generated by its AI models is embedded with SynthID, a digital watermarking technology designed to identify AI-generated content and help address misinformation concerns.
Gemini 3.5 Live Translate is now rolling out across Google products, including a public preview for developers via the Gemini Live API and Google AI Studio, a private preview for select Google Meet enterprise customers, and global availability in the Google Translate app on Android and iOS.
