Goodbye, Internet Explorer

Microsoft is exterminating its pioneer Internet Explorer brand to give way to a new Windows 10 browser under a different name.

Microsoft marketing chief, Chris Capossela, revealed during Microsoft’s Convergence event that the company is still researching what the new name would be, but temporarily it will be called Project Spartan.

This rebranding is part of the company’s impending Windows 10 software revamp, as it aim to get back in the web browsing loop.

In an interview with S&P Capital IQ analyst, Angelo Zino, he said that users have turned to Google’s Chrome browser and Mozilla Firefox in recent years, forcing Internet Explorer from an 80 percent market share in 2007 to about a 30 percent share now. That is why introducing a new browser brand is almost a necessity for Microsoft.

Internet Explorer will still be available but Project Spartan will be the default browser for Windows 10 users. Microsoft said that a clean, intuitive experience, including a reading mode for a simpler text, as well as the ability to make annotations on Web pages using a pen or keyboard could be expected from the new browser.

Happy or not about this, Internet Explorer will always be the pioneer for web browsing. What do you think about this move? Share your comments below.
