Globe Telecom reports 80% of outdoor Metro Manila now supports 5G coverage, with at least three districts near 100%. The second biggest telco provider aims to make the 5G experience “as pervasive as possible” as backing for the next-gen mobile connectivity continues to widen.
The three major locations with almost complete Globe 5G coverage are:
- Bonifacio Global City – 97 percent
- Makati Central Business District – 95 percent
- Ortigas Commercial Business Districts – 97 percent
While nine cities in Metro Manila are already covered by that 80%, Globe cites it’s boosting 5G readiness in Cebu and Davao. The telco set a Php70 billion funding for 2021 as part of an expansion in key locations across the country, with a target of installing 2000 new cell towers and more fiber rollouts for Filipino homes. The company also urges the public to switch to 4G or 5G SIM to take advantage of the greater network capability.
