GCash Blocks 1.37M Fraudulent Accounts: The results of what GCash and Globe have done to stop scammers have been shown and customers are being reminded to be extra careful when making transactions.

From January 2021 to July 2022, GCash and Globe say they have blocked 1.37 million fake GCash accounts. Also, 400K bad social media accounts were shut down, and 14,058 SIM cards linked to scams were turned off.

GCash’s GCheck Has the Following Tips to Protect Accounts:

Tip 1: Never share your MPIN or one-time password (OTP). Scammers often pose as a GCash representative or a friend to trick you into giving your OTP. Remember that your MPIN or OTP is only for you.

Tip 2: Only do GCash-related activity inside the app. Some scammers use similar-looking phishing sites to ask customers to verify or log in. Beware of this scamming scheme! Only do so when asked to confirm or log in on the GCash app.

Tip 3: Be careful who you transact with. Before making any online transaction, research and read reviews on the product and who you’re buying it from.

Tip 4: Only go to the official GCash channels. For all concerns, go to the GCash Help Center (help.gcash.com). For your safety, never post your inquiries on social media, and GCash will never send any personal message to address concerns.

GCash also wants people to use Chat with Gigi, its newest beta chatbot, to report fraud. Fake pages are taken down within 24 hours of being told about them.

GCash also works closely with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Cybercrime Division and the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG) to stop scams and other illegal activities and catch cybercriminals. GCash follows the rules set by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and the Anti-Money Laundering Council to ensure that customers are safe and secure.

Always refer to official channels for help with payment platforms. GCash helps users within the app. Find quick answers in the Help Center.
