According to Cruz-Angeles’ statement, this number of physical IDs was hand out to the delivery agency on August 23, 2022.

Even though the Philippine government still has a long way to go before issuing its national identification cards to the Filipino people, it is looking at giving as many as 50 million PhilIDs by the end of 2022.

According to Trixie Cruz-Angeles, the target includes 30.1 million physical PhilIDs and 19.9 million digital national IDs.

According to Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, BSP is ramping production to meet the target. The institution has been printing at a rate of 103,000 per day in the past 11 days.

Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Act, Republic Act (RA) 11055, gives PhilID the power to be “accept and recognize for government and transactions” and serves as an official and proper “proof of identification” for Filipino citizens and resident aliens.
