Google says active users of the Gemini app in Southeast Asia have more than doubled over the past year, with the Philippines standing out in several areas.
According to its first Gemini Report: Southeast Asia 2026, the Philippines is the only Southeast Asian country where female users generate more Gemini prompts than male users.
Filipinos also use Gemini differently from users in other countries in the region. Around 24% of prompts from the Philippines are related to creative work, making it the country’s most common use case. Another 17% are for writing assistance.
Google also said Filipinos use Gemini for customer support and marketing tasks three times more than the regional average, reflecting its use in the country’s business process outsourcing (BPO) industry.
Career-related questions are also more common in the Philippines than elsewhere in Southeast Asia, with users asking for help on job applications, work decisions, and staffing.
The report added that almost three out of four Gemini requests in the region come from mobile devices, while more than 40% use voice, photos, or videos as input instead of text.
Google also announced that Gemini Spark, its AI agent that can complete tasks across Gmail, Docs, and Slides, is rolling out to Google AI Ultra subscribers.
