Epic Games Store Set to Launch on iOS Later This Year!

Apple is reshaping the app landscape on its iOS App Store within the EU, unlocking the gates to alternative app stores.

While this change currently applies only to the 27 EU member states, Epic Games is already plotting a triumphant return for its beloved Fortnite.

Epic Games made waves by announcing the arrival of its Epic Games Store on iOS later this year, featuring the iconic battle royale game. The launch date is still under wraps, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.

The Apple-Epic Games saga adds spice to this development, recalling how Fortnite got the boot from the App Store in 2020 for breaching policies. Now, with the EU’s Digital Markets Act in play, Epic sees a chance for redemption.

But, here’s the twist, Apple will play gatekeeper to third-party app stores, requiring approval for Epic’s grand entrance.

Thanks to the EU’s Digital Markets Act, iOS users might soon indulge in game streaming bliss with Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce Now potentially landing on their devices this year.
