DOLE’s financial aid program aims to provide P5000 to workers with companies applied under Flexible Work Arrangements (FWAs). You can learn more about the requirements and guidelines here. As of March 29, nearly P500,000 displaced workers have been reported already. The number is only expected to grow as more companies file for the program. With that said, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III “directed” the regional offices to “relax the requirements”.
“There is no substitute to the expeditious release of the money to workers who should be benefiting from the government assistance by now,” Bello said in a statement. “All those affected should be given the necessary help, so let’s relax the requirements.”
As of March 27, the P5000 financial aid under the said program has been given to more than 200,00 workers (accounting those people who are affected by the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine only). Labor Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay shared that the cash aid has been released to more than 6,000 establishments.
“As of today, [nasa] 6,029 establishments covering 200,555 workers,” Tutay said.
In addition to COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP), Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD)-Barangay Ko, Bahay Ko is also expected to aid formal and informal sector workers during the period of the national health emergency.
DOLE has allotted P2 billion for the two programs while another P5 billion is still waiting for deliberation and approval which will cover the remainder of the emergency period. Additionally, a P1.5 billion cash assistance package has been allotted for affected overseas Filipino workers.
