A citizen in Mandaue City said that he was able to purchase a laptop at a bargain price that is issued by the Department of Education (DepEd) from a surplus store.
According to him, the laptop was only priced at Php 9,999, and the shop has tons of laptops in stock with the same exact model.
Additionally, he said that a DepEd “Sulong EduKalidad” sticker was on the laptop’s speaker. Even the headset’s packaging bears the project name “Procurement of DCP Packages” and the DepEd tagline.
The Central Visayas Department of Education (DepEd) has launched an investigation as a result.
The laptop should have been used by teachers for online instruction, but instead, it wound up at a neighborhood business, according to Dr. Salustiano Jimenez, regional director of DepEd.
