Canalys Report Estimates iPhone XR as the best-selling smartphone in 2019
Apple iPhone XR may be turning two years old in September, but Canalys’ research shows that it’s the best-selling smartphone in 2019. This is in terms of sell-in units made. Closing the gap is its successor, the iPhone 11. These two phones are the base models of Apple’s iPhone flagship lineup, however, they are also the least expensive from their respective generations. With that in mind, it’s easy to see why these are the two most popular smartphones last year. Surprisingly, only two flagship devices ranked within the top 10. iPhone 11 Pro Max settles for 7th place while Samsung Galaxy S10+ places last.Â

What’s even surprising is the Galaxy A10 with 2GB/32GB configuration ranking third. While we strongly not recommending getting an entry-level phone from Samsung, it seems like most consumers don’t really mind the drawbacks. Two more mid-range Samsung devices are behind it, the Galaxy A50 and Galaxy A20 in 4th and 5th place, respectively. Xiaomi’s most popular mid-range smartphone, the Redmi Note 7, is in 6th place. Apple’s iPhone 8 with an outdated design is just behind the Redmi device. Taking the 9th place is another old phone, the iPhone 7.
