Apple Warns Grok Over Deepfake Content Concerns

Grok

According to NBC News, Apple has warned Elon Musk’s AI app, Grok, that it could be removed from the App Store over concerns about harmful content.

However, Apple said that xAI, the app’s developer, had not done enough to prevent Grok from generating nude or sexualized deepfake images, according to a letter sent to U.S. senators obtained by NBC News.

The company flagged this as a potential violation of its App Store safety policies.

Apple also said it had already raised the issue directly with xAI and expected the company to improve its safeguards.

Apps that allow user-generated content are required to have systems in place to prevent abusive or harmful material.

The letter did not specify what changes xAI made after the warning, or whether Apple has taken further action.

As of checking the App Store in the Philippines, Grok is still available for download.
