According to Spotify, Apple is damaging Spotify’s audiobook shop by “choking competition.”

Spotify stated in a blog post that Apple’s restrictions hurt both artists and customers because they prohibit those programs from providing a seamless user experience.

The platform claims that Apple’s limitations are “far too complicated and confusing,” and they change “arbitrarily, making them impossible to interpret.”

The audiobook market has a lot of room to develop, and new listeners may find more authors, but the company’s forced purchase flow unnecessarily limits that option.

“Apple continues to dictate what online innovation looks like, seriously harming the internet economy, choking competition and the imagination of app developers.” According to Daniel Ek, CEO of Spotify, “Apple has shown time and again that it will not self-regulate and has no real incentive to change,”
